Bringing Puppy Home
Everything you need to know to prepare for your new SkyRidge puppy and ensure a smooth, joyful homecoming.
First 48 Hours at Home
Keep the first days calm and predictable. Offer a small, quiet space, a routine, and gentle reassurance as your puppy settles in.
- Set up a cozy pen or crate area before arrival.
- Keep introductions quiet—one room, one space at a time.
- Short potty breaks often; praise calmly.
Feeding & Routine
Consistency protects little tummies. Keep meals, water, and rest on a schedule—especially in the first two weeks.
- Feed at the same times daily (3–4 small meals for young puppies).
- Avoid sudden diet changes; transition slowly if needed.
- Always provide fresh water; monitor intake.
Safe Home Setup
Toy breeds are tiny and curious. A “baby-proofed” home prevents accidents and builds confidence.
- Block stairs and balconies; supervise on couches and beds.
- Hide cords, small objects, and toxic plants.
- Use a secure harness + lightweight leash outdoors.
Vet Visit & Wellness
Schedule your first vet visit soon after pickup for a wellness check and to establish care.
- Bring your puppy’s records and any notes we provided.
- Discuss a sensible vaccine plan suited to toy breeds.
- Ask about parasite prevention and safe grooming timelines.
