Spring Care Notes

Seasonal care for your little companion

As the season begins to shift, spring brings a quiet renewal, not just in nature, but in the rhythms of home. For delicate companions like Yorkshire and Biewer Terriers, this transition is a beautiful reminder to slow down and pay attention to the little things.

Foxtail Awareness

One of the most important spring concerns is foxtail awareness. These small grass awns can hide in yards, trails, and open spaces, and they can easily cling to a puppy’s coat or work their way into delicate areas like the paws, ears, underbelly, and around the eyes. After outdoor time, it’s always wise to do a gentle check and brush-through.

Seasonal Sensitivities

Spring can also bring seasonal sensitivities. Some puppies may experience mild irritation from pollen, dust, or grasses. Watery eyes, light itching, or frequent paw licking can be subtle signs. Wiping paws after walks and keeping their face and coat clean can make a meaningful difference.

Grooming & Coat Care

As temperatures begin to rise, this is also a lovely time to refresh their grooming routine. A well-maintained coat helps keep them comfortable, clean, and feeling their best. Gentle brushing, light trimming, and regular care become especially helpful during seasonal transitions.

Fresh Water, Shade & Balance

With warmer days ahead, fresh water, shade, and moderation outdoors matter more than ever. These little ones are sensitive, and even mild seasonal changes can affect them more quickly than we realize.

At SkyRidge, we believe the smallest details are often the most important. A clean coat, checked paws, fresh water, and a watchful eye are all part of creating a life of comfort, safety, and quiet luxury for the companions we love.
